La Boite's Roundhouse Theatre is an epic-intimate space that calls for a theatre that celebrates the theatrical. It is an arena of inquiry and a coliseum of the senses. As Australia's only purpose-built theatre-in-the-round - and flexible enough to be used as a thrust stage with the audience on three sides - our home stage offers a distinctive theatre experience.
We create our own productions, but also seek collaborations with independent creative teams and new and established companies from Queensland and beyond. We have an appetite for new work, from both Australian and international artists, but also a taste for reimagining the classic works of world drama. We aim to converse with the times - to unwrap the past and scrutinise the present as a means of expressing our aspirations for the future.
We regularly tour our productions throughout Queensland and to other Australian centres. We also tour internationally.
We believe that learning is a life-long process, and so our education program offers opportunities for people of all ages to reap the rewards of practical engagement with theatre and drama. Creativity has an increasingly important place in our lives, and these programs aim to unleash new ways of thinking, imagining and communicating.
